Papers of Stephen Phillips Hill (1936-2010), professor of Russian and Cinema Studies (1965-2010), includes curriculum vitae and biographical materials (1994); professional activities including materials on conference and conventions attended (1963-1978); administrative subject file (1963-2008); correspondence with colleagues, publishers, and students (1976-2001); manuscripts (1957-1976); publications (1957-1976); course materials (1956-1981); tape recordings of interviews with Soviet film makers (1965-1968) and personal papers (1914-1999).

Significant subjects include: Student Recommendation Letters (1966-2006); Proficiency Examinations (1962-1997); Russian Film (1955-2003); Revizor Files (1979-1999); Russian and East European Center (1963-2008); University Senate (1965-2009); Department of Slavic Languages and Literature (1963-2007); Family Correspondence (1914-1983); Single Book Lover's Correspondence (1980-1986); Vintage Erotic Film Correspondence (1970-1978); and Financial Records (1956-1983).

The tape recordings of Russian language interviews with Soviet Film makers in Moscow include: director Samson Sansonov (August 9, 1965); director Leonid Gaidai (July 22, 27, 30, 1965); director Lev Kuleshov (July 25, 26, 29, 1965) and art designer and actor Peter Galajev (November 1, 1968). Texts of most of the interviews have been published in articles appearing in Film Culture (1966-71).

Major correspondents include: Jerry Heil, Jerry Hirsch, Roger Ebert, Seth Hill, and Frank A. Hoffman.
