Leigh Estabrook (1942- ) served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) from 1986-2001, and as Director of the Library Research Center from 1987 to the present. She is also a full-time UIUC faculty member with dual appointments in GSLIS and the Department of Sociology. Dr. Estabrook is the author of almost fifty journal articles, and is a frequent consultant to library vendors and academic and public libraries. She received her Ph.D from Boston University in sociology, her MS in library science from Simmons College, and her AB in history from Northwestern University.
