Minutes of meetings of the Executive Committee (1912-35) and Board of Directories (1935-61) of the Association and the Alumni Council including letters, clippings, statistical and comparative audit, financial and membership reports and typewritten statements submitted by the general secretary and editor, treasurer and field secretary concerning constitution and by-laws, membership, local Illini Clubs, class organizations, alumni office, Alumni Quarterly and Alumni News, University of Illinois Foundation (1934-41), reports of receipts and disbursements, gifts, dues, salaries, investments, committee reports, elections, reunion, memorials, the nomination and election of University trustees, University bond issue (1960), football tickets, grants in aid and university policies.  Secretaries and executive directors include Frank W. Scott (1912-19), Carl Stephens (1920-42), James C. Colvin (1942-46, acting), Charles E. Bowen (1946-60), Gene Vance (1960-67) and Jim Vermette (1967-73).

Biographical Note

Organized on June 5, 1873,1 the Alumni Association held decennial reunions in 18822 and 1892.3 It is a separate corporation promoting the interests of the University as an educational agency and maintaining contact with alumni of the University.4 It is managed by a Board of Directors elected by the regular members of the Association.5 The Association encourages activities of Illini Clubs, solicits alumni support for University activities and arranges class reunions and other functions. On March 11, 1965, the Board authorized a system of Associate Directors for each campus. In 1967 the word "Associate" was dropped from their titles and each is now known as a Campus Director.6
