Black and white photograph of the construction of the McKinley Hospital Addition. A hole was dug out for the addition and the lower windows of the hospital are boarded up. Several people are working in the hole as two people talk outside of it. Wooden boards, wheelbarrows, and other constuction equipment lay strewn about. Several cars are parked on the road behind the constuction. The trees are barren. The following is written in the lower right corner of the image: "1st Addition to McKinley Hospital University of Illinois, Ernest L. Stoaffer Architect, Wm. C. F. Kuhne Contractor, Feb. 8, 1939 #1."
