James David Moses, Jr. was born in Lyon County, Kansas on May 4th, 1915 to John David Moses, Sr. and and May Jones Moses.
Moses was the President of the UIUC Concert Band from 1936 to 1937 and played the BB-flat bass along side Mark H. Hindsley, a cornet player and the Assistant Director of the Concert Band during his Senior year. He receieved a degree in Commerce and Law, and was involved with Concert Band (1, 2, 3, 4) and Alpha Delta Phi. The following year J. David Moses played at the Annual Grand Concert Band for the American Bandmasters Association with the University of Illinois Concert Band.
He married Wanteta M. Moses (1918-2024) on June 5, 1943 in Mt. Pulaski, IL and lived in Decatur, IL where they opened a music shop, Macon Music Inc. from 1946 to 1980.
James David Moses passed away on May 4, 1998 in Macon County, Illinois. He is survived his son, James D. Moses, and daughter, Gail LeFever Wright, as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
