Consists of photographs, programs, route sheets, a periodical, and other personal papers of Loren Kent. The materials focus on Kent’s career between 1910 and 1975 with the John Philip Sousa Band, Great Lakes Naval Battalion Band from World War I, the Olney Cummins Community Band.
Loren Kent (1895-1977) was a professional tuba musician and barber. His music career included time spent with the Great Lakes Navy Battalion 7th Regiment Band, touring four seasons with the John Philip Sousa Band during the 1920s, and playing in the Olney Cummins Community Band. Kent was also a member of the Sousa Fraternal Society. He also managed the Olney Cummins Band for fifty years.
