Description: Orville Otho Mowery (1901-1999) received his Bachelor of Science in agricultural, consumer, and environmental science from the University of Illinois in 1926. Mowery then taught vocational agriculture until 1935, before becoming a country farm advisor in the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service until 1966. In 1967, Orville received a two-year assignment as Agricultural Extension Advisor at Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University.
The Orville O. and Lorraine Mowery papers include a retirement binder with newspaper clippings, retirement banquet photos, and letters of congratulations. Also in the collection are trip photos and notes, personal photos and correspondence, an itinerary for a 1974 Illinois Swine Producers trip, a photograph of the 1927 poultry judging team, slides of Farnham and of the Mowery's time in India at Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, and Orville Mowery's funeral program. Subtitles for the slide binders are the original names from the slide boxes.
