George Clinton Pinckney (1899-1968) attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign from 1918 to 1920, where he studied Chemistry in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and was part of the Student Army Training Corps (SATC).

Born on December 5, 1899 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Pinckney is listed as an undergraduate student in the University of Illinois Register between 1918 and 1920.  As a student, Pinckney participated in the Adelphic Literary Society's 1919 Mock Trial, acting as the complainant against a chicken thief.  In the 1920 Illio yearbook, he is listed as a member of the Chemical Club.  The 1929 University Directory lists his profession as “paving contract Turk constr co” in Little Rock, Arkansas.  There is no evidence suggesting that Pinckney graduated from the University of Illinois.

Pinckney married Lillian Cornell (1905-2001) on November 26, 1936, with whom he had one child, Charles E. Pinckney (1941-2018).  He died on September 24, 1968 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
