Papers of Col. Russell A. Cone ‘27 (1905-1992) including newspaper clippings, correspondence, service medals, certificates, publications, programs, and scrapbooks relating to Cone’s time as a student at UIUC and his involvement with ROTC and Greek life; his distinguished U.S. Air Force Career—especially his service in Alaska during WWII; and his personal life and family, some of which pertains to Champaign, IL where he was based for much of his early career. This series also includes the Distinguished Flying Cross medal Cone earned for sinking a Japanese transporter in Kiska harbor during his WWII service..
