Description: A postcard sent from a University of Illinois student to Mr. C.E. Pace of Farmer City, IL, in October of 1908. The card itself shows an image of the University of Illinois' Engineering Hall, taken before August of 1908. The message describes the class rivalries that featured strongly in the culture of the University at that time. Events described include "Sophs" breaking into a home, one individual having his hair cut off and being taken to Boneyard Creek, attempted vandalism of a "Class of 1912" sign, and a mile-long chase of the perpetrators of the previous event.
Note: The student signed the message only as "Bly," and, as we have not had success in finding a student of that name, the item is listed under the name of the recipient.
