Russell Award (1964-85), established in 1963 as the Distinguished Research Award to honor outstanding work of scholarship or research in the teaching of English; the Distinguished Service Award (1957-85, 2015), established in 1950 as the W. Wilbur Hatfield Award to recognize individuals who have exhibited valuable professional service to the profession; the Executive Committee Award (1967-74); J.N. Hook Scholarship (1968-69); Teacher of the Year (1969); James R.
