Melody M. Allison is an Associate Professor Emerita of Library Administration at the University of Illinois (Assistant Biology Librarian and Assistant Professor of Library Administration in 2002, Associate Professor of Library Administration in 2008). In 2009, Allison became Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) Librarian, and Information Services Librarian in 2013. She retired in 2019.
The papers of Melody M. Allison consist of Allison’s resume and CV, UIUC and off-campus professional correspondence, meeting agendas, minutes, and notes, nurse certificates, news articles, conference programs, letters to the editor, newsletters, articles, books, and book chapters.
This collection is organized into two series. Series 1: Subject Files, 1975-2018, arranged by topic and alphabetically within; and Series 2: Publications, 1989-2018, arranged chronologically.
Melody M. Allison is an Associate Professor Emerita of Library Administration at the University of Illinois (Assistant Biology Librarian and Assistant Professor of Library Administration in 2002, Associate Professor of Library Administration in 2008). In 2009, Allison became Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) Librarian, and Information Services Librarian in 2013. She retired in 2019.
Allison earned an Associate of Arts in Nursing from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (1975) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Angelo State University (1987). After working as a registered nurse for twenty years, Allison received a Master of Science in Library and Information Science from UIUC in 1998. Allison became an Information Services and Monographic Cataloging Librarian at Indiana State University in 1998. In her time at UIUC, Professor Allison was Assistant Biology Librarian and Assistant Professor of Library Administration (2002), Associate Professor of Library Administration (2008), Agricultural, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) Librarian (2009), and Information Services Librarian (2013). At UIUC, Allison served on Faculty Senate committees and the University Library Privacy Working Group.
Allison has been involved in anti-pesticides advocacy among other environmental and health-related causes, such as the Charleston Earth Society and Coles County Coalition Against the Misuse of Pesticides. She also served as President of the Coles County League of Women Voters from 1991-1992 and 1996-1998.
