Papers of John Raphael Laughnan (1919-1994), Professor of Botany (1948-1954, 1955-1976), Botany Department Head (1955-1959, 1963-1965), Professor of Plant Genetics (1951-1954, 1959-1967, 1969-1990), Professor of Genetics and Development (1976-1984), and Professor of Plant Biology (1984-1990), including correspondence to and from Laughnan, publications, and publicity concerning development, cultivation, and dissemination of shrunken-2 genotype maize, also known as "Super-Sweet corn"; conference presentations; economic and agricultural impact of Super-Sweet corn in the United States and abroad; and the erection of a bronze marker on the University of Illinois campus commemorating the development of Super-Sweet corn. This series also includes a commemorative ribbon printed with "Super Sweet Corn."
