Herbert C. Barrett (1922-2001) was a professor of plant breeding in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Professor Barrett's research and publications concerned grape cultivation and wine production.

Herbert C. Barrett (1922-2001) was a professor of plant breeding in the Department of Horticulture at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Professor Barrett's research and publications concerned grape cultivation and wine production.
Herbert Carroll Barrett was born in 1922 in New Holland, Illinois. He received his B.S. in 1948 and his PhD in 1952, both from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He began teaching as a first assistant of plant breeding in 1954 and subsequently became an assistant professor in the Department of Horticulture in the 1955. He became an associate professor in 1962 and reached the rank of full professor in the department of horticulture by 1967. He died in Florida in 2001.
