Scope and Contents of the Materials

Bunce Family Papers include correspondence between V.P. Bunce (attended 1869-71), his parents, E.P. and Lydia Bunce, his sisters Roberta, Florence, and Jessie, extended family and friends. Correspondence concerns student life at the Illinois Industrial University (1869-1871);  the family farm in Versailles, Illinois; and life in Illinois, Kansas, Indiana, North Dakota, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.

The record series also contains a Bunce family tree, family photographs, Vincent P. Bunce's school records, and documents relating to E.P. Bunce's teaching career.

Transcriptions of all letters are included on pages 3-274 of the finding aid.
