Alpha Phi Alpha Records contains correspondence, event programs and promotional materials, newspaper clippings, chapter event proposals, chapter member's biographical information, articles on the history of the Tau Chapter including "Origins of the Tau Chapter," "Alpha Phi Alpha During Wartime," meeting agendas, and an 87th anniversary booklet containing information on the Tau Charter Members.

Biographical Note

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity for Black college students, was founded at Cornell University in 1906. The Tau Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha was established at the University of Illinois in 1917 from the local Beta Pi fraternity.
