Robinson; Paine mentions that he lived in Xenia, Ill. until he was 18, but does not know any other Illinois writers, as he "left there so long ago"; Paine includes a typescript of "The Parish School", with additional holographic notes, for inclusion in Moore's anthology.

Origin: On personal letterhead, "3 Rutherford Place"; directories list Paine at this New York address at least in 1904 and 1905. "An Illinois anthology", compiled by Moore and Robinson, is listed in Publishers' Weekly of 28 Sept. 1907; listed in the "Cumulative book index", v. 9, no. 12, which lists "books published during 1906"; "Journal of the Illinois State Historical Society" (v. 2, Apr. 1909-Jan. 1910): "Professor Robinson and Mr. Moore have presented their manuscript [of "An Illinois Anthology"] to the Illinois State Historical Society and it will probably be published within a few months."
