Origin: Location and date from head of first fragment recto which reads: "Philad. of 18 January 1769". -- Verso of second fragment stamped "Philadelphia".

Originally a bifolium. -- First fragment has a large lacuna in the center extending down to the bottom. -- Second fragment in 4 pieces, one of which remains attached to the first fragment. -- Both fragments show signs of prior attempted repair with tape.
Verso of second fragment contains address to: "Mr. Peter Kurtz in Stratton Mayor Parish, King of Queens County, Virginia". -- Evidence of wax seal at foot of second fragment.
Fragments accompanied by a partial transcription of the text and a 1950 reprint of a 1454 piece attributed to Gutenberg; both removed to item folder.
