Scope and Contents: Letter from Barton Booth: "Sir, When I desird the favour of seeing you this evening I had forgot that I had appointed a gentleman to hear his tragedy read at [the] same time. A messenger came to me this morning to put me in mind of the appointment. As the gentleman proposes to have his play acted (if it be approvd of) before Xmas, I hope you will excuse my deferring the pleasure of hearing yours 'till tomorrow, or any other day, & hour, you please to appoint. I am downright ashamd of my forgetfullness, but if you knew what hurry our theatrical affairs have been in of late, you would the more readily excuse, sr. your most obedient humble servt. B Booth".
