Collation: Paper, fol. 125 (foliated 1-123) + i (paper fly-leaf) ; 1 2-13? 14? (-14?) ; horizontal catchwords in inner margin.

Layout: Written in 20-23 long lines.

Script: Title, dedication, and preface may be Tresham's autograph, ca. 1558. The main text is on different paper and in a different hand, apparently that of a professional scribe.

Binding: Contemporary limp vellum; holes for four silk ties with remains of two (one green, one white); two guards of manuscript waste (Gothic script).

Origin: Written in England, ca. 1530-1558.

Provenance: Former owner's mark "J.5" in pencil on inside of front cover -- Purchased by T. W. Baldwin in 1932 from Foyle, London -- Purchased by the University of  Illinois  from Baldwin in 1967.
