Script: Purportedly in the hand of Michael Dalton; cf. ms. note of R. W. Bridgman on recto of third flyleaf: "This is the original manuscript of Mr Dalton's small Breviary, the corrections of which appear to be in Mr Dalton's own hand writing".

Binding: 18th cent., early. Full calf, gold tooled; rebacked; blue marbled endpapers; yellow edges.

Accompanying materials: With an engraved portrait of Dalton, dated 1770, pasted in.

Provenance: Dalton -- Engraved armorial bookplate (with motto: Favente Deo amicoque benigno) of Richard Whalley Bridgman on inside of front board -- Collection of Sir Thomas Phillipps -- Purchased from Last, 20 October 1942.
