Scope and Contents of the Materials
Flodden W. Heron was a bibliographer and collector of rare materials on Lewis Carroll. He published the following articles on the subject: "The 1866 Appleton Alice" in The Colophon 1.3 (1935): 422-7; "Lewis Carroll, amateur photographer: the story of two photographs" Camera Craft (Nov.1938): 507-511; and "Lewis Carroll: Inventor of Postage Stamp Case" Stamps 26.12 (March 1939). Flodden W. Heron's collection consists of Lewis Carroll realia, correspondence, and photographs. The collection also includes Heron's typescripts, dealers' catalogs, and ephemera relating to Lewis Carroll, Alice Liddell Hargreaves, and Alice in Wonderland. Books from the Heron collection have been dispersed among the Rare Book and Manuscript Library book collections. Stickers in the inner covers reveal that these items came from the Heron collection, but currently, we do not have an inventory of these books. A list is being compiled and will be added to the finding.
