Scope and Contents of the Materials

This collection contains around 300 letters to and from Diego Jose Carrillo de Albornoz y Bravo de Lagunas, conde de Montemar, and members of his immediate family, dated 1761-1799. A few letters are addressed to other recipients, including Francisco Manrique de Lara, the conde de Montemar's brother-in-law, and Pedro Carrillo de Albornoz, the conde de Montemar's younger brother. The correspondence concerns the family's affairs and current events in Madrid, Spain; Trillo, Spain; and Lima, Peru.
