Scope and Contents: The William Allingham papers document the life and work of Irish poet, William Allingham (1824-1889). The bulk of the collection is comprised of correspondence, with letters sent to and by Allingham, his wife Helen (née Patterson), their children, and others. The collection also includes visual and literary works, such as sketches, poems, and ephemera. Many materials offer insight into the Allinghams' involvement with the Pre-Raphaelites in England and Ireland during the mid-19th century.
