Historical Note: Born May 20, 1575. Died at Calais, Aug. 30, 1649. Sir Robert Heath was an English lawyer, Solicitor General (1620-1625), Attorney-General (1625-1631), Chief Justice of the Common Pleas (1631-1632), Chief Justice of King's Bench (1642-1645), member of Parliament, and author of <i>Maxims and Rules of Pleading</i>. Impeached by Parliament of high treason in 1644, fled to France in 1646. Father of Edward (1626), John (1626), George (1633) and Robert (1634).
