Historical Note:

Richard John Leskosky was born on February 8, 1946 in East St. Louis, Illinois to Helen M. Diette (1915-2011) and Anthony J. Leskosky (1913-1979), an accountant. He graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1963; it is unclear where he attended college.

Leskosky served as Associate Director and Assistant Professor of Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois from 1976-2009. Since his retirement, Leskosky has continued his research on “cartoon genres, insect fear films, Japanese animation, and 19th century proto-cinematic devices.”

Leskosky married May Roberta Berenbaum on July 3, 1988.
