The major correspondents are the secretaries of the American Library Association: Chalmers Hadley (1909-11), George B. Utley (1911-April 1920) and Carl H. Milam (April 1920-1948). A significant amount of correspondence with William S. Merrill of the Newberry Library is included. The series contains reports, budgets, pamphlets, conference programs and questionnaires.
