Description:

Papers of Carl Stephens (1884-1951), Alumni Association editor and director (1914-32) and University Historian (1943-50), including source material, biographical clippings and notes used in writing his unpublished 1947 history of the University of Illinois; Alumni Association records and correspondence (1912-50) relating to Illinois alumni associations, budgets, clubs, committees, constitutions, Council, funds, magazines, secretaries and other alumni activities; Illinois and other universities; manuscripts of speeches about the University (1928-50); Kampus Kibitzers Klub proceedings and scripts for skits (1930-41) and Urbana Rotary material (1930-50). The historical source material includes original manuscripts, notes and published documents, including copies of correspondence and documents from President's office files, recollections of alumni from the early decades of the university, and recollections by Regents Peabody and Burrill. Biographical clippings and notes include many short articles clipped from the Alumni Quarterly.
