Scope and Contents:
This collection relates to vessels captured by Great Britain, 1779-80. It contains a photostat (on 11 sheets), and a transcript of the photostat, of papers for the ship St. Luis, otherwise Alexander, from the New Orleans registry, with Bartholomew Toutant Beauregard listed as master. These papers include a bill of lading for goods (Apr. 27, 1779); an affidavit attesting to perishable conditions of certain skins (July 8, 1779); a claim of Patrick Morgan, prisoner of war at New Orleans, with affidavits (Nov. 16, 1780); and papers relating to the entry of the cargo of the Neustra Senora del Carmen (Sept. 16, 1780). The location on the originals is not known.
