Scope and Contents:
Roy V. Scott was born in Wrights, Greene County, Ill., in 1927. From 1960 to 1968, he served on the faculty of Mississippi State University, retiring as the William L. Giles Distinguished Professor of History.
This collection contains Scott's research notes used in preparing "Milton George and the Farmers' Alliance" (M.A., University of Illinois, 1953), "Agricultural Organizations in Illinois, 1880-1896" (Ph.D., University of Illinois, 1957), and The Agrarian Movement in Illinois, 1880-1896, Illinois Studies in the Social Sciences, Vol. 52 [a revision of the dissertation] (University of Illinois Press, 1962). Scott deposited these notes in the Library in 1992. Another collection of his papers is at Iowa State University, his alma mater.
