Edward George Renesch (1879-1957), who signed his posters as E. G. Renesch, was an American illustrator who lived in Chicago, Illinois.
This collection contains a print by Edward George Renesch in 1919, titled “True Blue.” The image shows a Black family admiring the portrait of a man in uniform hanging over the mantle. The portrait is flanked on each side by a portrait of George Washington and Woodrow Wilson and Abraham Lincoln’s portrait hangs off to the side. While World War I had officially ended by the time this print was produced, many soldiers had not returned home yet. The print is approximately 16 x 20 inches and in color.
The Library purchased this collection/letter in 2022 with support from the Dr. Harlan Horner Estate.
