Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of two photo albums depicting Leonard John Guerrieri, family, and friends, growing up in the North side of Chicago, Illinois from the 1940s to 1970s.
Leonard John Guerrieri was born in 1942 to an Italian-American family in Chicago, Illinois. He attended Wells Community High School and then Lewis College, where he studied business.
This collection consists of two photo albums from the 1940s to the 1970s. The first album contains images from 1942 to the early 1950s, showing Guerrieri as an infant to age ten. The images depict Guerrieri growing up and playing with other children in his community on the North Side of Chicago. Several of the photos show groups of children outside Clarkdale Drugstore, on the corner of Clark Street and Oakdale Avenue in Chicago, or sitting on the steps of brownstones. The second album is dated 1951 to 1976 and contains images of Guerrieri as a teenager and young adult, including events at Well High School, his time at a military academy, and Lewis College in Romeoville, Illinois. All photos in both albums were corner mounted and do not include captions. Many of the photographs are dated on the back, with a few names of the other children depicted.
The Library purchased this collection in 2022 with the support of the Bruce C. Creamer Fund.
