This collection consists of records of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Alliance Chapter 642. These records include genealogies of prospective members as well as yearly scrapbooks from 1923, 1937, and 1940-1956.

Kate Baker Busey (1855-1934) established the Alliance Chapter 642 of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Champaign, Illinois, in 1904. The chapter was named for the Alliance, a Revolutionary War frigate. The chapter became active in historical and political study programs, as well as the historic preservation movement.

The collection contains genealogies submitted by prospective members in order to satisfy the organization's membership requirements, including transcribed cemetery and church records from Illinois and Ohio locations. The collection also has seventeen scrapbooks compiled by chapter historians from 1923, 1937, and 1940-1956. The scrapbooks, judged for prizes annually at the state conference, contain clippings of local, state, and national events taken from newspapers and magazines, correspondence, genealogical and historical notes, minutes, photographs, chapter programs, transcribed documents, and yearbooks.

The University of Illinois Archives transferred the collection to the Illinois History and Lincoln Collections in June 1976.
