This collection consists of a school treasurer's cash book from Peoria County, Illinois.
Peoria County is a county in central Illinois consisting of 20 townships. The first Peoria County school board was elected in 1855 and established free public education in the same year. The county saw steady growth in public schools from then until at least the 1910s.
The volume records transactions related to day-to-day operations of Peoria County, Illinois, township schools, such as payments received and paid out for teaching, repairs, and supplies. The transactions span from April 1, 1867 to April 1, 1914.
