Scope and Contents:
This collection contains the final reports of several Champaign County organizations obtained by the War Records Committee under the Champaign County Council of Defense as well as records of the Four Minute Men.
After World War I, the Champaign County Council of Defense collected county war records from the Champaign County Council of Defense, the County Fuel Administration, the War Camp Community Service, the Cooperating Committee on Tuberculosis War Problems, the Food Fuel and Conservation Committee, the Liberty Loan Committee, the Champaign County Four Minute Men, and others. The collection of these records was carried out with the intent of creating a local repository for preserving war records which would otherwise be destroyed or misplaced.
The records include final reports of the activities of Champaign County organizations during the War. The collection also includes work records, newsletters, and bulletins from the Four Minute Men.
Marguerite Jenison (Pease) donated the materials to the Illinois Historical Survey, predecessor of the Illinois History and Lincoln Collections.
