Scope and Contents:
This collection contains assorted brochures, clippings, and other ephemera commemorating and documenting the history of trains and railroads in the United States, particularly in Illinois. Much of the ephemera comes from museums, clubs, or societies focused on celebrating and preserving the history of the railroads in Illinois, Wisconsin, or Pennsylvania, although timetables and other materials created by the railroad companies themselves are also included. The collection also contains images of trains in oversized color prints and a set of illustrated placements. The materials were collected by Richard Skagenberg, and a small number of publications and clippings related to tractors and agriculture supplement the materials on trains and railroads in his collection.
Richard Skagenberg donated this collection to the Library in 2015.
