Scope and Contents: This collection contains photocopies of House and Senate bills from the 29th to the 35th Congresses concerning the organization of territorial governments and determining statehood for several areas. These include a bill protecting the rights of American settlers in the territory of Oregon as well as bills that organize territorial governments and statehood for Wisconsin, Oregon, California, Minnesota, New Mexico, Utah, Washington, Nebraska, Arizona, Dacotah [Dakota], and Kansas.
