Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of 12 postcards depicting images of varying locations in Illinois. All but one of the images are in color. Seven of the postcards contain a written message and/or address and one is written in Swedish. The postcards bear postmarks ranging from 1906 to 1911.
Each postcard depicts a location, with the entire collection representing 7 cities in Illinois. The locations depicted include North School in Waukegan (black and white), Fox River and Riverview Park Gates in Aurora, Linn and Scruggs Department Store in Decatur, Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Spencer Square in Rock Island, the Pavillion at Washington Park in Springfield, and 5 locations in Quincy: Washington Park, Indian Mound Park and Mississippi River, a drive in Riverview Park, East Maine Street, and Washington Park, Down Town.
This collection was donated to Illinois Historical Survey in 1980 by Mr. Jay Troendle of Pasadena, California. The Decatur postcard appears to have been accessioned at a later date. This collection was previously housed in the Illinois and U.S. Graphics Collection.
