This collection contains genealogical lists and handwritten notes concerning the ancestry of the Moore family and families related by marriage, including the Wilderman, Hunt, and Patterson families.
Alice Lenore Hunt Daly (1879-1942) was a descendant of William Hunt II, an “eminent quaker minister of Guilford, North Carolina.” She married Thomas Daly (1874-1953), from Mount Carmel, Wabash County, Illinois. Daly was responsible for compiling the collection materials related to the Moore family ancestry. Various family members had ties to Guilford, North Carolina; Dorchester, Maryland; and St. Clair County, Illinois.
This collection contains genealogical lists and handwritten notes regarding the ancestry of the Moore family as well as families related by marriage, including the Wilderman, Hunt, and Patterson families, among others. The collection also contains a copy of a marriage license belonging to Walter Q. Wilderman and Adalaide Moore certified on December 19, 1883, and a certificate certifying the marriage license as an original copy. In addition, the collection contains handwritten notes regarding the ancestry of Lillie F. Shoupe, a great granddaughter of Risdon Moore Jr. and Sarah Tree. Genealogical lists regarding the Moore, Wilderman, and Patterson families that identify relations by marriage and children are also included.
The collection was donated to the Library by Alice Lenore Hunt of Mount Carmel, Illinois, circa 1967. Steve Lozanoff of St. Petersburg, Florida, the personal representative of the Elsie and Earl Wilderman estate, donated additional materials to the collection circa 1987.
