Scope and Contents:
This collection contains 8 items regarding real estate development in Peoria, Illinois circa the 1890s.
The collection contains blueprints, advertisements, and accounts, removed from Allen's New atlas of the city and vicinity of Peoria, Ills., compiled from plats on records and official surveys drawn and published by Daniel B. Allen (1888). The atlas is cataloged and shelved in the Illinois History and Lincoln Collections; a digitized version of the atlas is available to view in the IHLC Digital Collections. Most of the items in this collection were affixed opposite to particular plats in the atlas, and the page numbers of these plats are written on the back of each of the items. Additional pencil notations are in the atlas itself, which was heavily annotated by one or more of the developers. The names of several developers, including C. M. Brown, Mary E. Culver, W. C. Edwards, and Isaac Taylor, are printed or written on the items.
These items were removed from the Illinois Historical Survey’s copy of Allen’s New atlas of the city and Vicinity of Peoria, Ills. (1888) circa 1995.
