This collection consists of research materials compiled by Fonda D. Baselt and Josephine F. Moeller related to cemeteries in Champaign County. Materials include copies of maps, articles, notes, and photographs.
In the early 1980s, Fonda D. Baselt and Josephine F. Moeller made copies of the maps created by Godfrey Sperling during the 1930s. They included these copies, along with other sources, in an updated version of Sperling's survey titled Cemeteries of Champaign County, Illinois: A Location Guide with Plat Maps (1984). The book includes updated condition summaries, photographs of cemeteries, township histories, and plat maps of cemeteries and townships.
The collection contains copies of maps, articles, historic descriptions, and photographs of cemeteries arranged by township, which were included in the updated publication. Their notes for this book are also included in the collection.
Fonda D. Baselt and Josephine F. Moeller donated the materials to the Library in 1987.
