Scope and Contents:
Fred H. Turner (1900-1975) graduated from the University of Illinois in 1922, and, as assistant dean, dean of men, and dean of students, 1922-66, devoted his career to the University.
Between 1946 and 1974, he made and numbered wood cut prints for friends at Christmas time. He depicted buildings not only on campus but throughout the state, most of which are historic sites. Beginning in 1949, he inserted with each wood cut a printed history of the building.
This collection includes both prints and inserts for the entire series. It also includes duplicates as well as oversize prints for certain years. Other sets of Turner's prints are in the Turner papers in the University Archives (41/1/20), the Champaign County Historical Museum, and in other collections.
