Scope and Contents:
This collection contains two letters written by William S. Johnson in 1864 and 1897. William S. Johnson was an orderly at the headquarters of the 1st Division, 1st Army Corps of the Army of the Potomac.
In his March 1864 letter, he responds to his brother John B. Johnson's story about men who resisted the military draft. In his letter dated December 31, 1897, William, writing to a Dr. Butz, inquires about his payment for his late mother's medical services.
The letters were donated by Turner Rowse in 1995.
