Scope and Contents:
This collection consists of a transcript of a journal written by John Jennings entitled "Journal, From Fort Pitt, to Fort du Chartres, in the Illinois Country." He used this journal to document his journey along the Ohio River to Illinois from March 8, 1766, to April 10, 1768. John Jennings describes Kaskaskia, Fort du Chartres, and multiple encounters with friendly and hostile American Indians.
This journal has been printed in Pennsylvania Magazine, 31: 145, and Alvord and Carter, The New Regime, 1765-67 (Ill. Hist. Colls., Vol. 11), 167-177.
