Scope and Contents:

Elizabeth Witt Collins was the widow of William Burrage Collins, for whose family the town of Collinsville, Ill., was named. In this letter of July 25, 1850, Collins, writing from Collinsville, asks Newton Bateman for the payment of a $40 loan from 1842.

Wilbur Duncan of Decatur, Ill., donated this letter to the Survey in 1957.
