W. H. Newlin, of Georgetown, Ill., was a first lieutenant, Co. C, 73rd Ill. Vol. Inf. He mustered in on Oct. 24, 1863, and mustered out on June 12, 1863. This six-page reminiscence, of which the Library has a photostat, describes prison life, the threat of a "Northwestern Confederacy", and several military campaigns.
