Albumen photograph showing Lorado Taft's sculpture, Orpheus Consoled. The back caption contains the creator's description. "Lorado Taft's whimsical "Orpheus" presented Saturday [Feb. 11, 1922] to Mr. [Thomas] Edison on his seventy-fifth birthday suggest an archaic athlete displaying a discus. Closer examination reveals the face that the once disconsolate god of Music is rejoycing over an Edison record. With his left hand he silences his trembling lyre; having tried the 'Edison' he will use no other!"
