Historical Note: Harriet B. Ward (ca. 1890-1950) was a vocal instructor at the University of Illinois and member of the Executive Board of the Choral Society between 1910-1929. Many of her students performed within the University Choral Society, under the direction of Lawrence Erb and eventually Frederic Stivens. Ward would have taught alongside the famed baritone, Arthur Bresford, yet choruses were not officially listed within the university course catalog until the 1930s.
