Description: General correspondence and subject file of the chairman of the Committee on Educational Policy, including announcements and minutes of meetings; official correspondence of the chairman with committee members, president, provost, deans, Senate secretary, faculty and interested parties; committee reports; notes on the disposition of materials, publications, and newsclippings relating to the committee's action on reports, requests and recommendations; the approval and change of curricula, degree programs and majors; creation of new departments; general education course sequences required by the Hilton Committee report of 1962; religious education courses (1958-66); year-round university operation (1963-66) and the educational policy committees at the Chicago Division and the Medical Center; and Center for Advance Computation. Committee chairmen were Valentine Jobst (1958-59), John F. Bell (1960-61), Merle M. Ohlsen (1961-62), Charles B. Hagan (1962-64) and Ernest M. Lyman (1964-66). Files of earlier chairmen are in record series 15/18/21 (1933-34), 10/10/20 (1936-40) and 11/8/20 (1949-51).
