Description: Class book of William Melville Baker (1823-1873), first professor of English (1868-73), consisting of his class register for semester beginning February 15, 1869, recording students' last names for classes in literature, Latin and English, attendance, deportment, recitations and final marks. Bound in front are a short biography of Baker and a carbon copy of a letter thanking Walter J. Graham for its donation to the University of Illinois Library.
